Two of the main highlights that all visitors will be able to see are related to Galleries sector (focused on design pieces starting from the Modernism to the present day) and the Curio sector (which will present immersive installations with an emphasis on scientific and technological research, handcraft and creative production). Like every year, the 2019 edition of this event will celebrate the winners of the Swarovski of the Future Award. Among them, we can include Friedman Benda, which will be introducing Bleached II by Israeli designer Erez Nevi Pana, a piece made through the use of highly saline water of an industrial evaporation pond to submerge the aluminium structure of his furniture design. Then we also point to Nilufar Gallery, founded in Milan by Nina Yashar, and set to be in Miami to present the work of names such as Franco Albini, Gio Ponti, Studio BBPR, Joaquim Tenreiro and, Jonathan Trayte. The focal point of this showcase will be the presence of the iconic Triennale armchair by Gio Ponti (first revealed to the public in 1951).
Design at Large is another sector of the event which will be exploring a topic of incommensurable value, chosen by the event. On this 14th edition, it will be about “Elements: Earth”. It will be a large-scale installation that will intend to describe how humans and design will keep interacting in a post-nature Anthropocene future.
