We’ve found where’s located the luxurious mansion of the blockbuster hit “Ex-Machina”, one of the most acclaimed movies of 2016 that even won the Oscar for Best Visual Effect, upstaging other big box-office hits like “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.

One of the highlights of the film, besides the obvious sci-fi theme, was the luxurious mansion in the woods were the action takes place. Well we’ve found out were this stunning palace of solitude it’s located and it’s just as wonderful as the movie depicts, but it’s not exactly an opulent private mansion….

The mansion itself doesn’t actually exist, but the stunning natural locations that are seen in the movie are all real and they can all be seen at the Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway. This was the location chosen by director Alex Garland to film most of the outdoor and indoor mansion scenes that feature star actors like Alicia Vikander, Oscar Issac or Domhnall Gleeson.

Although the actual mansion doesn’t  exist, you can still enjoy the breathtaking sights that are shown in the movie, and those sights are clearly one of the real highlights of the movie. The good news is that, since the film was partially filmed at the hotel, you can actually stay at the actual location of the film for a few nights and enjoy, firsthand, the stunning natural views of this Eden-like place.

As the official website of the hotel describes it, the Juvet Landscape Hotel represents the synthesis of raw Norwegian nature, cultural history, and modern architecture. Situated in the farmstead of Burtigarden farm at Alstad in Valldal,  this was, in fact, the first landscape hotel in Europe and, as it happens, it’s just as famous as the movie itself

Surprisingly it’s not an expensive place. A night in one of their stunning room in the middle of the woods costs 210 Dollars. A bargain compared to some other high-end places of Norway and Europe. So if you plan to visit Norway, you should take this hotel into consideration, even if you haven’t seen the movie. It’s an astonishing place, but just take in consideration that it’s located 500 Km away from Oslo and that you’ll have to book your stay in advance simply because this is a petite and very popular hotel.
