Paris is not only famous for being the capital of fashion, but also as the birthplace of modern interior design. Paris has been placed on a pedestal on the world’s stage for its artistic savoir-faire – for fine cuisine, exclusive wine, and outstanding fashion, the French capital is famed for its expertise to perform everything it puts its hand to with natural style. Today CovetED presents to you a list of our favourite French interior designers. – Brace yourself for endless inspiration!
When it comes to interior design, Sarah Lavoine uses similar principles as she does while dressing herself. In her design projects, Sarah Lavoine never tries to look vulgar and she works the total look. The designer does her best and knows how to mix and combine different items. According to her opinion, there is nothing worse than when an entire room – or worse, an entire house – is designed with one theme all over.
French designer Christian Liaigre is known for his high-quality work in the world of design. In his point of view, interior design is far from fashion and trends, because comfort is all about delicacy and rareness. Since 2004, the brand Christian Liaigre has been considered a member of the Comite Colbert. Nowadays he devotes himself particularly to work for private clients with his team based in Paris.
The late designer Alberto Pinto was not only a remarkable interior designer but also a traveler. He founded a photography agency in New York specializing in interior design and decoration. His legacy will live on his amazing and versatile projects, from apartments and private homes to palaces and hotels. He died in 2012, but he left behind a powerful and long-lasting legacy for France and for the Interior Design Industry.
According to Didier Gomez, he practices an art dedicated to well-being. Through his agency DGID, the designer has completed some of the most iconic projects all over the world, including the Café Roset in Moscow, La Coupole restaurant in the Printemps store in Paris, the Asia Lounge restaurant in Almaty and the Méridien Montparnasse in Paris, and Joël Robuchon’s Yoshi restaurant in Monaco.
Founded in 2004 in Paris by the young master designer Luis Laplace and Christophe Comoy, Laplace Studio has developed an international clientele sensitive to high-end design and execution. Through good use of space and light, design concept based on local cultures and traditions, selection of materials and color as well as the passion for art and craftsmanship, Laplace combines modern simplicity with great elegance. Since the popular design event, Maison et Objet is held in January in Paris, we decided to attribute this month to one of the main flagship design studios of Paris!
