Don’t Miss Out On Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai 2019Tuesday 19 November 2019
The amazing Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai 2019 is returning to the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 20-22 November for another incredible edition. This year, the protagonists of the fourth edition of the design event will be the 128 exhibitors, including 23 new brands that will swell the number of exhibitors further, guaranteeing a full immersion experience in the value and originality of ‘Made In Italy’. CovetED brings you the most important information about this upcoming event.
Salone Del Mobile.Milano Shanghai‘s purpose is to continue its constructive and profitable dialogue with the Chinese market, increasingly attracted to the creativity and original manufacturing value embodied by the event. This design event will feature the highlights from the Milan edition, including Design (functional, innovative, and attractive products) that combine classical elegance with contemporary design.
In order to respond more effectively to the demands of a changing market, as well as the increasingly evolved and knowledgeable Chinese consumers seeking a virtuous mix of Made in Italy quality, design and innovation, the range of goods offered at Salone Del Mobile.Milano Shanghai 2019 will have more of a contemporary bias, with 80 companies in the Design category and 36 top luxury design brands in the xLux category (products that are a balance of classical elegance and modern appeal).
SaloneSatellite will have a presence at Salone Del Mobile.Milano Shanghai, allowing young designers under 35 and students at Chinese universities and design schools to exhibit their design projects and be in the running for the prestigious SaloneSatellite Shanghai award, which could take their work to Milan in 2020.
The Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai also provides an opportunity to take stock of the sector and its progress, and promote new relationships that will give concrete support to the synergic development of the furnishing sectors in Italy and in China and generate opportunities for cultural debate, inspiration, and training.
The goal of Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai masterclasses are to present a successful program of meetings, discussion, and reflection led by three internationally acclaimed Italian architects – Rodolfo Dordoni, Patricia Urquiola, Ferruccio Laviani – in conversation with an equal number of gifted Chinese architects: Li Hu, Zhao Yang, Chen Fei Bo. The contemporary design story of excellent Italian savoir-faire will be offset by the experience of the Chinese designers, who are making great strides in innovation and quality in order to come up with original products and new housing models for China over the coming years.
The presentation of this fourth edition to some 400 well-known architects and interior designers, real estate promoters and sectoral professionals, took place during the now traditional Red Night, held on September 11 in the atmospheric and contemporary setting of the MIFA 1862 Theatre, an ancient shipyard restructured and converted into an Art Centre to a design by the renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
