When we talk about Art Deco we must talk about Fenton Whelan, an award-winning multi-unique boutique, residential development in London’s Mayfair where they can so easily and perfectly combine the Art Deco with contemporary living. With refined attention to detail and delivering highly complex projects with incredible design, it’s no surprise the Greybook Penthouse is a dream come true.
It is always important to refer to how you feel when you enter the Art Deco living space and see the bespoke furniture that is framed by stained glass windows, so clean and full of brightness. You can also see the Bulthaup kitchen that is just juxtaposed with the coolest green breakfast room upholstery, immediately creating an iconic entertaining space with a classic bar area. Impossible not to notice the class, the elegance of the master suite that can be seen in the lacquered finish wardrobes and the Alcantara upholstered headboard.
The master ensuite is framed by the Noir Saint Laurent book matched feature wall and marbled pattern flooring. Four further ensuite bedrooms contain upholstered headboards, book matched marble and bespoke joinery. How beautiful it is to see the marble staircase that leads to access to the private roof terrace with views of London. A second formal terrace is situated to the rear with decking and frameless glass balustrading.
Now reporting to the important part of the house and the one with a bigger impact for us: the Bulthaup kitchen. In this space, the project gets its Art Deco touch thanks to the Russel Bar Chair by Essential Home. The designers had their mindset on one bar chair that would be one-of-a-kind, a statement piece.
Just like the interior designer said: “The project brief was to create a multi-unit, boutique, residential development in Mayfair. The interior design was to reprise to spectacular effect the Art Deco theme of the building and the design language found within Claridge’s Hotel opposite. It was also extremely important to find a seamless blend between of one of history’s most recognizable design periods with that of contemporary living and the Russel Bar Chair fit perfectly to that theme.”
The point was to maintain the original character of the building while also inserting character, personality, and uniqueness through bespoke furniture that tells a story. That’s exactly how the stunning Russel Bar Chair came into the picture with its round polished brass and timeless seductive velvet layered over a comfy foam frame. A mix of Art Deco aesthetics with an amazing contemporary twist, this piece brings the nostalgia of the past with a touch of glamour and sophistication from the present.
