Damon Liss And Nancy Nienberg performed a charming renovation of a Tribeca Apartment in New York City. Damon Liss Design and Wunderground Architecture + Design, the first one as designer and the second one as architecture, both worked together to present to the world a very interesting and enthusiastic project.
For Damon, since he established his design firm in 2002, this was the dream project because he designed the house thinking about his family and this was completely new for him. “To us, it is consistent with loft living. You need to define the spaces and need separation, but you don’t want individual rooms,” explained Damon Liss.

The large living space is divided into three different areas and with highly diverse furniture: There’s the main living room, a library nook and an hangout room, which is anchored by two chairs in front of a wood burning fireplace.
The main room is provides with an original Danish chair in gray leather, of 1930, along with a floor lamp made in Italy by Stilnovo, a chair by Martin Eisler which dates from 1960 and a coffee table by Scapinelli from Espasso Store, a shop located on North Moore that is specialised in vintage Brazilian furniture. On the top of an oak slab table created by BDDW is sited a German chess set dating back to 1960. The brand BDDW is based in New York, it’s a small american furniture company which often collaborate with designers to create well crafted timeless designs.
The couple decided planning the kitchen as a space for living and feeling good. “We don’t want our design to feel like everything is newly purchased, so we incorporate pieces with patina, age and richness,” said Damon. And he continued saying: “We love vintage pieces, and natural wood, like the slab tables.”
