Patterns and prints are a big trend, generally, in all fashion weeks, but maybe a little bit more special during haute couture week as the outfits are so overly creative. Some of our favourites examples of animal print usage during the haute couture week was delivered by Alexandre Vauthier.
The collection was all about, ‘French Chic’; sexy yet elegant, sophisticated yet balanced. We love how he used ruffles on dresses and added the animal print for that extra dash of drama, while still looking very chic, and not to over the top.
In his own words – “In this collection, I worked on the very essence of French couture: le chic Parisien absolute”. – What’s more, we are sure that some of these print ideas would look just as chic in our home.
Back to the 18th-century

Chanel never fails to impressive, and this year was no different. This season, Chanel made us travel back in time to a land where; lightness, embroideries, and the old French flair reigned. It was impossible not to love everything, and even harder to ignore all the 18th-century inspiration that we can translate into our homes.
The outfits were filled with flower embroideries that reminded us of beautiful French porcelain. There were a lot of feathery frou-frou as well as long slender 1930s-style silhouettes, broken by ruffles and followed by satin dresses with 18th-century pannier skirts.
All too pretty, and all too tempting. – We can already image ourselves turning our home into a gorgeous 18th-century palace, or at least, we can still daydream about it!

Giambattista Valli always achieves one thing: dreamy collections straight out of a fairytale!
One element that was constant during this collection was the use of strong and bright colours. There were also a few neutral combinations, consisting mostly of white and black hues, but what really stood out, was the gorgeous shades of pink and red, seen sliding through the runway.
If we could describe the collection in only a had full of words, we would say – alluring, sophisticated, luxurious, modern, and feminine. – All fantastic adjectives to base our home decor by.
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture 2019. Photo by Alessandro Lucioni/ gorunway.com
Ralph & Russo was a delight in colour, flamboyant, and extravagant. As the strong and feminine looks went down the runway, it was impossible not to feel transported to another dimension. Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo were inspired by María Felix, who was a famous Mexican diva, and that was vividly manifested on all the runway looks.
María Felix’s personality was filled with passion, charisma, and sensuality; and so was this collection. The outfits had a very cinematic feel to them, which comes as no surprise since the Mexican diva was the inspiration behind it. The first look is a perfect example of that, and it consisted of an acid green wool crepe tailored body-con pantsuit that featured a crystal and gold-embroidered of a snake around the blazer. The cinematic glamour comes also from the accessories seen on most looks – matching sombreros which add a little more drama.
Some of the most beautiful colour combination seen on the show came from the third look – a minty pantsuit filled with gold ornaments and matching sombrero. The perfect colour palette to transform any room into a more glamorous (and even royal), ambiance.
