100% Design is set to commence tomorrow and it will last until 23rd September. The Cornerstone event of London Design Festival is the largest and longest-running design trade event for industry professionals in the UK. This year, the talks programme is brimming with UK’s leading industry experts across the Auditorium and the Forum Stage that will discuss a series of matters related to design. Today, Coveted brings you a few of the renowned names that are going to participate in this exciting programme.

100% Design adopts a theme each edition which is reflected in its installations, features, talks, programmes and show design, this year, Elements was the selected one. This new theme encompasses everything from the fundamentals of design to the component parts that make up a product, the materials used to the stories and processes of development. Newly appointed Content Editor, Max Fraser is responsible for overseeing every aspect of its implementation. Fraser will also be appearing as the chairperson in several of these enticing talks.
The Award-winning designer, Michael Young is set to open the show. The British industrial designer based in Hong Kong has for the past 20 years continued to push the boundaries of experimental design, becoming one of the most influential international figures in the industry. Michael Young’s vibrant imagination and his continued ability to innovate and take a fresh approach to a seamless blending of East and West is what keeps his work relevant and increasingly in demand across all continents.

Other speakers that are scheduled to present in the Auditorium are Lee Broom, Ross Lovegrove, and Naomi Cleaver, on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, respectively. Lee Broom is one of the UK’s leading product designers. He has his own highly original brand that manufactures luxury furniture and lighting designs. Ross Lovegrove’s designs possess a trinity between technology, materials science and intelligent organic form. His work is inspired by the logic and beauty of nature. Interior Designer, Naomi Cleaver is at the forefront of British property’s most dynamic housing sectors, and her projects are quite cherished by patrons and residents alike due to their sensual, occasionally mischievous but always human-centred character.

Also in the Auditorium, designer Christopher Jenner, Addicted to Patter’s Justyna Medon as well as designer and maker of fine furniture, Neil Stevenson will discuss the importance of craft and the UK’s respected design heritage. On the last day, design enthusiasts will be able to listen to industry innovators, Sebastian Conran, Emi Runnquist (LAYER), and co-founder of Opendesk Joni Steiner regarding how designers and tech innovators are working together to drive change.

In the forum, directors of Materials Council, Ian Turner and Brad Turner will discuss Materials Speed Dating, that is all about selecting the most exciting and innovative materials for your upcoming project.

In addition, Sophie Thomas, director of Thomas.Matthews will be presenting a ten-step methodology for circular design, based on the “double diamond” design process and learnings from “The Great Recovery” Project.
