D Museum is set to present one of the most singular design exhibitions called Plastic Fantastic that brings together the artistic flair and knowledge of forty renowned international designers which will be expressed through the use of one of the most beguiling materials in the world, plastic. The exhibition was organized in partnership with Kartell and is scheduled to run from September 14, 2017, to March 4, 2018, in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The exhibition is elusive to the substance of plastic which has become widely consumed worldwide, thus being one of the main materials that people used on a daily basis, as a matter of fact, it is described as the dominant material from the 20th-century.

Design enthusiasts can expect to see works from forty designers and artists that have a strong sense of characters and a willingness to challenge themselves to produce more than 2,700 works of furniture, lighting, graphics, and photographs.

Some of the pioneering designers that will be showcasing pieces are Anna Castelli Ferrieri, who brought a new sense of elegance and functionality to industrial plastic, ushering the material into the home interiors; the iconic creator Philippe Starck will also be present as well as Patricia Urquiola, who has the capacity to influence the entire global design market with playful and poetic, yet pragmatic and functional designs. Moreover, Tokujin Yoshioka is also set to participate and the genius creator is renowned for transcending the boundaries between poetic language and art with his unique pieces. The great authority of Italian Minimalism, Piero Lissoni will also make its contributions as well as the prestigious lighting designer, Ferruccio Laviani. Renowned designers, Marcel Wanders, Ron Arad, and Christophe Pillet are also expected to present enticing designs.

A key highlight of PLASTIC FANTASTIC is its exploration of the close collaboration between the forty giant designers and Kartell, the world‟s leading manufacturer of Italian design that has been pioneering the plastic innovation for over three generations. In a selection of remarkable works handpicked from its vast archive, viewers will also experience the sense of Italy’s uniquely humorous and bold style through a combination of graphics, illustrations, and photographs that capture plastic furniture in inventive perspectives of renowned artists.
