The Best of Milan Design Week 2018 – To help you prepare for the Milan Design Week 2018, CovetED will give you the day by day list of special events you can’t miss!
All Week Long Events
Salone del Mobile 2018 – Fiera Rho Milano – During the Milan Design Week 2018, Milan will also host one of the biggest and most popular trade fairs of design, furniture and interior design in the entire world. Be sure to stop by the gigantic Fiera Milano Rho and visit the prestigious Salone del Mobile or ISaloni, where you can find the top brands of the business like Boca do Lobo, Fendi Casa, DelightFULL, PullCast or Missoni Home.
Brera Design District – In 2018, the famous Brera District makes its return to Milan Design Week with the theme “Be Human: Designing with Empathy”. Some of the major design events, international designers, and young Italian ambassadors will be present or represented in this established Milanese district. This is the 9th Year in a Row that Brera Design District will be a central part of the FuoriSalone 2018. There is a lot to see and do in this district in the main streets of the district, namely Via Brebra and Via San Tomaso.
Tortona Design District – Now in its third edition, the Tortona Rocks, located in the Porta Genova, will showcase the work of international design. As always, the Tortona Design District will take to the streets, animating much of the neighborhood with countless events between Via Tortona and Via Savona. Totaling 20 exhibits, 30 designers, and 50 companies, Tortona is among the most famous districts at Fuorisalone.
Isola Design District – With several creative and sensational installations across the main streets of the Isola Design District, this famous district will present this year the theme of “Rethinking Material”, an exploration into the versatile experimentation of materials. Local craftsmen and international designers, like Kensaku Oshiro or Piero Lissoni, will come together to showcase their extraordinary creations throughout the many ateliers and open shops in the neighborhood. The central nerve of the Isola district will be La Stecca 3.0, a community space transformed exposition center dedicated to workshops for design.
A Life Extraordinary – Tortona Design District – From 17 to 22 April, Moooi travels back to Via Savona 56. A real voyage of discovery, A Life Extraordinary showcases a universe of mystical worlds and points of view inspired by the extraordinary diversity of life. The best of Moooi is at Tortona Design District during the Fuorisaloni.
Swarovski Showcase – Palazzo Serbelloni -The crystal giants have a couple of flagship stores in Milan but they are set to provide the full Swarovski experience at Palazzo Serbelloni’s (Corso Venezia, 16) hidden courtyard. Inside a custom-built greenhouse, the Austrian brand will offer a pop-up Daniel’s Café, that will serve Viennese pastries, and a retail shop where visitors can purchase its atelier collections and jewelry. At this improvised stand, Swarovski will also be showing off it’s new home collections that include pieces designed by famous designers of the likes of Nendo, John Pawson, and Patricia Urquiola. They will also showcase some stunning new chandeliers from the Swarovski Crystal Palace brand.
Nilufar Depot Expo – Viale Vincenzo Lancetti, 34 Milano – At the Nilufar Depot, a huge secondary location of the Nilufar Gallery, Nina Yashar will present the new layout of the location. That design it’s inspired by houseplants. The Depot atrium is transformed into a stage theater, an imaginary room where we will be able to see some new projects of Analogia Project, Lindsey Adelman, Baciocchi Associati, Ilaria Balduino Sartori, Nicolini / Bertocco, CRD studio, Cristina Celestino, Maarten De Ceulaer, are exhibited, Francesco Faccin & Francesco Meda, Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, Martino Gamper, Nuala Goodman, Gupica, Carlo Massoud, Claude Missir, Atelier Lavit, Massimiliano Locatelli, Xavier Lust, David / Nicolas, Federico Peri, Hannes Peer, Analogy Project, Roberto Rota, Osanna Visconti di Modrone, Kiki Van Eijk, Vasconcellos Barreto, Bethan Laura Wood and Zanellato / Bortotto.
Surface Magazine + David Rockwell – Via Ferrante Aporti 15 – In celebration of Surface Magazine’s 25th Anniversary, the Diner was served. Surface will join forces with renowned designer and architect, David Rockwell, to present a unique exhibition that celebrates American designer, showcasing an unforgettable contemporary interpretation of the archetypal roadside restaurant
The Reverse Room – Brera Design District – This is an installation created by Foscarini and architect James Wines, together with his daughter Susan Wines, for Milan Design Week 2018. At Foscarini Spazio Brera, in a room with dark walls, upside-down and obliquely tilted, furnished by monochrome tables and chairs, the table lamps peer down from the ceiling, while the hanging fixtures sprout from the floor with the aim of challenging our perception of spaces and our responses to environmental stimuli and conventions.
Rossana Orlandi Gallery – Via Matteo Bandello, 14/16, 20123 Milano – At this gallery, Altreforme will celebrate its ten years with Raw & Rainbow, a collection of ten limited-edition sculptural objects created by designers Antonio Aricò, Serena Confalonieri, Marcantonio, Alessandro Zambelli and Zanellato / Bortotto. The exposition will showcase five pairs of objects, one more basic and colorful, that will highlight the characteristics of those brand’s DNA. The Gallery will also feature a convivial space that combines the high gastronomy with the charm of the interior design designed by Rossana Orlandi in collaboration with Etro Home. A sort of extension of the gallery that mixes vintage pieces with works by Mayice Studio, Hillsideout, Vudafieri Saverino Studio, Heewon Kim, McCollin Bryan, Emanuela Crotti, Germans Ermix, Piet Hein Eek, Nika Zupanc and Kiki Van Eijk, on the background of floral fabrics, animal prints and ethnic decorations.
Bold Movements & Emotions Beyond Functionality by Emerging Designers from Belgium – Spazio Maraniello in Viale Stelvio 66 – Brut, a group of six emerging designers from Belgium, will make his debut at the Milan Design Week with Bold Movements & Emotions Beyond Functionality. The members of the collective Ben Storms, Bram Vanderbeke, Cedric Etienne, Charlotte Jonckheer, Linda Freya Tangelder and Nel Verbeke. Visit their exhibition.
Minimal and Eclectic Collection by Castellani Top Design – FridaNightClub – In the spaces of the historical local Frida, the Tuscan company Castellani Top Design will present a minimal and eclectic collection contaminated by colour and art, bringing industrial design and worked entirely by hand metal in completely new scenarios.
Milan Design Market – Isola Design District – For its third edition, Milan Design Market will take place inside the Photographic Studio Gianni Rizzotti but with a completely new format. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover and purchase a careful selection of products, made from designers coming from all over the world, in a real Pop-Up Concept Store. There will also be a series of dedicated areas to start-up design and a Design Bar.
Associative Design – Brera Design District – There will be a showcase of “The Best of Portugal” in the Brera Design District. Originated by AIMMP, the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries, Associative Design promotes Portuguese brands and products globally. The showcase will be present in the District and will feature an expertly curated mix of contemporary and luxury Portuguese design and innovation, including furniture, lighting and objets d’art.
“TRANSITIONS by Panasonic Design“ – Brera Design District – It’s an all week long event that celebrates Panasonic’s 100-year anniversary with a landmark installation and a series of panel discussions exploring the future of design. The immersive installation “Air Inventions” is visually designing the invisible air in a huge “water-drop pavilion” in the courtyard of the Pinacoteca de Brera, home of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. The installation showcases Panasonic’s latest air-conditioning technology, allowing visitors to experience the cleanest, purest air in Milan.
10 Corso Como Gallery – 10 Corso Como – 10 Corso Como is perhaps the most famous design shop in Italy. Hidden from the main street and centred around a peaceful green courtyard, this labyrinth of aesthetically-oriented goods is a mecca for fashion or design lovers. Through the years the iconic 10 Corso Como has grown to become a bookstore, fashion and design store, roof garden, hotel and café. At Milan Design Week it will host several expositions and presentations.
Dilmos Gallery – Piazza San Marco Milano – At Milan Design Week 2017, between April 17th and 22nd, Dilmos will showcase strong art, design, furniture and cultural exhibitions that fully showcase this space’s style and mission. The highlight will be a special exhibition named “Tree Stories” curated by Richard Wood. Make sure you stop by and have a blast at Dilmos and at Milan Design Week 2018.

Dimore Studio celebration of Fuorisalone – Opening Party – Via Solferino 11, Milano – The famous Milanese Design Studio will organize an Opening Party at their headquarters to celebrate the beginning of Milan Design Week.
Triennale Design Week – Triennale di Milano viale Alemagna – The spaces of La Triennale di Milano host the best of Italian and international design and a special Temporary Shop.
B&B Italia Preview Party – B&B Italia Store via Durini 14 – The preview of B6B Italia’s new collection!
Nendo Press Preview Press Preview – Via Tortona 27 – A solo exhibition held during Milan Design Week 2018, a showcase of 10 different collaborations with Japanese manufacturers using unique materials and advanced techniques.
The Secret Place of Design – Chiostro Grande di San Simpliciano via Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro 3 – This project was originated from a collaboration between four Italian companies: Nodus, Exto, Matì and Tao.

Lexus – Limitless Co-Existence – Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci Cavallerizze via Olona 6 – Lexus’ passion for design has fueled the growing appeal of the brand in recent years and in Milan, Lexus will be showcasing its newest concept – the innovative Lexus LF-1 Limitless that hints at future design thinking from Lexus.
Party Louis Vuitton -Corso Venezia 48 – Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades will feature astonishing pieces from international designers like Marcel Wanders, Patricia Urquiola, India Mahdavi, Nendo, Campana Brothers, and countless others.
Missoni Home – Missoni Showroom via Solferino 9 – Missoni’s showroom will be decorated by artist Rachel Hayes. A private party where you can find the best designs of Missoni.

Compass Magazine – Libreria 121+ Via Savona 17 – Compass Magazine will organize a 10th Year Anniversary Party that will be attended by major players of design like Cherubino Gambardella, Luca Pignatelli and Tim Power.
The Best of Portugal – Piazza S. Marco 4- Event with music, Portuguese food and drink, prepared by Michelin star chef Hélio Loureiro
Design Pride + Party Piazza Affari 2018 – Angolo Via Minghetti – In collaboration with Paridevitale agency, the spectacular Italian brand Seletti will invade the 5vie district showcasing its funny and ingenious designs, promoting the most pop event of the week, Design Pride.

Dimore Studio celebration of Fuorisalone – Closing Party – Via Solferino 11, Milano – The famous Milanese Design Studio will organize a Closing Party at their headquarters to celebrate the end of Milan Design Week.
