BassamFellows Brings Craftsmanship to the Brera Design DistrictThursday 12 April 2018
BassamFellows Brings Craftsmanship to the Brera Design District ⇒ Founded in 2003 in New Canaan, CT, BassamFellows is a design company dedicated to returning true craftsmanship and beauty to contemporary living. Craig Bassam and Scott Fellows call their aesthetics ‘Craftsman Modern’. In addition to their existing, luxurious furniture and lifestyle collection, BassamFellows will be showcasing two new Signature Chairs and examples of their textile designs for Geiger International in their gallery in the Brera Design District.
Almost fifteen years ago, Craig Bassam and Scott Fellows began drafting their vision for a new kind of American luxury company. A genuine, fully integrated lifestyle brand stemming from their shared aesthetic sensibilities, that would encompass architectural projects and interiors as well as impeccably crafted furniture, lifestyle objects and personal accessories.
Craig Bassam is an architect who designs interiors, furniture, lifestyle products and homes. As the company’s chief designer, Bassam is responsible for BassamFellows’ celebrated Craftsman Modern aesthetic. Scott Fellows is a creative director who merges extensive expertise in business and brand strategy with the instincts of a designer. He has forged innovative partnerships and led product design and development for some of the world’s leading brands. On the heels of successful solo ventures and with a single shared vision in mind — to return true craftsmanship and beauty to contemporary living —, the duo quickly garnered attention as “the newest member of the design world’s A team”.

BassamFellows‘ pioneering aesthetic, which marries architectural authority with a minimal-artisanal philosophy, was introduced with the debut of the iconic BassamFellows Tractor Stool at the 2003 Salone del Mobile in Milan. This stool artfully married two disparate aesthetics: the rigorous authority of architecture and the honest, humanistic character of the handmade.
From its inception, the company has focused on building relationships with some of the world’s leading craftspeople, whilst forging innovative and intelligent collaborations across the worlds of architecture, branding and design. BassamFellows products are distinguished by important collaborations with leading artisans and craftspeople and the emotional connection created by products that are genuinely completed by hand. The pair’s first signature furniture collection gained an international following, including Rem Koolhaas and Philippe Starck. Other credits include a collection for McGuire and designs for Geiger International. Since 2010, BassamFellows has acted as creative directors for the Speciality and Consumer Businesses of Herman Miller, which includes Geiger International.
