Kagan, born August 29, 1927, begins the story of his ascent to one of America’s most renowned designers with an account of his childhood in Germany, and his family’s escape from Nazi persecution at the age of 10. In 2009, 62 years after he began creating furniture, Kagan was inducted into the Interior Designer Hall of Fame.
