The showroom design reflects the personality and the way design company develops in its field. Get to know about this Mute Living Showroom in Taipei, where the exclusive interview with Victor Hsu, Eric Huang and Jessie Tu took place.
CovetED Magazine: Tell us about Mute Living: which is the concept? How and when did this project born?
MUTE LIVING: Mute Living‘s concept is to bring beauty to our homes. We’ve been in interior design field for a decade and gradually we realized that the essence of the perfect home design, furniture / Deco is a very important part of it. We’ve been discussing the concept over years and the project was born in August 2015.

CovetED Magazine: Before we start talking about the Interior Design industry, let’s talk a little bit about how it all began: passion. As we already know, you are passionate about luxury furniture and home improvement. But we don’t know how did it all begin. So how and why did you get into the luxury furniture’s market?
MUTE LIVING: Being in the interior designer industry, we need to give suggestions to customers regarding their furniture selections. I’ve been in numerous furniture shops around the world and it was like a seed growing inside of me that I would like to have one store where I could collect all that beautiful things and give my customers a great furniture selecting experience. Mute Living is my first select concept shop and we will have another one in 2016.
CovetED Magazine: Being in love with our work is always the key to achieve better (and the best) results. Are you in love with your job? What do you love most about it?
MUTE LIVING: Yes, and I must say I’m in love with my job and that’s why I’m still doing what I’m doing. Without any question, it’s a very challenging and exiting experience. It brings you all kinds of aspects about people’s lifestyle, point of view, values.. I think it’s the most interesting part and the one I love the most.

CovetED Magazine: How important is to have the perfect chemistry between you and your clients?
MUTE LIVING: It is crucial! Cause it’s a basic starting point to build up a good relationship for everything.
CovetED Magazine: Keep up to date on all the trends is essential for anyone who wants to conquer this market – there is no time for mistakes. In what ways do you keep current with new trends?
MUTE LIVING: We love to travel and also to go to major furniture/home decor and design exhibitions in Europe and Asia. We also keep our eyes on the fashion industry in order to know the trends and what’s happening in the world.
CovetED Magazine: Choose the best pieces to compose a project can be the secret to getting the best overall result. Although it seems easy, this is a delicate task and needs full attention on time to execute it. How do you select which pieces and brands will be part of the catalog of your store?
MUTE LIVING: I love uniqueness. And I tend to choose things are hand made, it brings the furniture life lots of personality. I really don’t like mass production stuff, it’s lack of vitality.
CovetED Magazine: Most of your customers are probably Interior Designers, and for professionals it is always easier to choose which pieces will be included in a project. However, when the issue is decoration, many of those who come to your store are amateurs who are also passionate about decoration. And sometimes those clients need some wise advices. Do you have some tips for those who don’t know well how to start a challenge like this one?
MUTE LIVING: To see things in the big picture, how you gonna mix and match all the things you like in one single place is a very challenging and interesting task. It needs practice and experience and sometimes to need good suggestion from your interior designer is inevitable.
CovetED Magazine: What do you love the most about having a showroom like yours and to be surrounded for timeless pieces like some that are available on your store?
MUTE LIVING: Connect to better life is Mute Living’s concept. It’s always a pleasure to have beautiful thing surrounding you. What I love the most in having a showroom is that everytime I sell a master piece I I wonder where are they going to be and what will be the story. And what kind of pleasure it will bring to life of those clients.
