The Designer’s Voice
Unique, luxurious and ready-to-live. How could you explain these concepts?
This is a very important concept for foreign customers because when a foreigner buys an apartment in France, they would like to live there as fast as possible. Normally, a project has the duration of 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years … and the price is constantly accumulating. With this concept, when I show a house to a client, it’s already done. I created this concept because it is very complicated for a foreigner to buy a house in France and, with the ready-to-live, it’s easier.
How do you plan your projects? Where do you start?
I start looking for the apartments, the houses … Then I’m researching the location because the location does the project. I speak with the location and the location speaks with me. I do the projects in conformity with its localization. Then, I renew, I imagine a decor. The difference between me and a decorator is that a decorator has his own style, it’s always the same in all his projects, but for me, all the projects are different, always unique.
Is there a common element between all your projects or are they all different?
Perhaps there are things, from time to time, that are repeated, but, that’s how I said, my projects are always quite different. That is my brand.
What are the main characteristics of the team that works with you?
I have 2 architects who always accompanies me. They are working on the project. I ask them to research, and then I choose something that interests me and I invest a lot in the project. They always accompany me. And that’s the most important feature.
Do you have a favourite project that you’ll never forget about?
I have a project in Provence. It is a very beautiful place with a very old house, a house on the cliff, and it is a project very, very contemporary.
What kind of project you have not done yet, but you will like to do?
A very contemporary project, with materials that, for me, are very new. A lot of concrete, a lot of glass, a lot of iron. A project that is for me a new experience.
What is the best compliment you have received for your work?
It’s very complicated, thanks to the differences between the projects, I think the best compliment possible is the people who see the houses or apartments and buy them. It is the recognition of my work. This is the best compliment I can have.
How do you define your style?
As all the projects are different from each other, I classify my style a bit commercial. But I really like to make very contemporary projects.
Do you have some references/influences? Who are they?
I am inspired mostly by interior design projects that I think are beautiful, but I am completely independent, like a writer. I work with a blank sheet and I do my project I am inspired by the location of the project that I will do. And I am completely intuitive. I do not have preconceived ideas for my projects. Materials and objects influence me a lot too.
What are your goals for 2018?
I have the goal to make a brand new concept of an apartment, a house, decoration, furniture, a very new concept. I would like to create a different concept from others and have a broader proposition. It will be offered to a customer of a hotel project that I will do. The Secret Hotel, which will be completed in 2019.
