The home in the matter already had a couple of wonderful qualities for Hoppen to work with. Aside from a dramatic double-volume space, and abundant daylight, the apartment also had an incredible set of paintings, sculptures, and furniture pieces that reflected the owner’s incredible taste in that regard. The revamping task was up to Kelly Hoppen MBE, and the result was incredibly stunning.
Kelly Hoppen took full advantage of the natural light that the home already had, which includes the double-volume living area on the ground floor. As the designer explained in her own words:
“Capturing the natural light within this design scheme was key, and using metal crittall doors and windows where possible has allowed me to create a more open and inviting space,” – Kelly Hoppen in a statement to Philippine Tatler
The double-volume living area on the ground floor, for instance, draws ample sunlight which was a pretext for Hoppen to take advantage of. The scale of the space is very much enhanced by the marble feature wall, which extends up to the ceiling.
Another detail one needs to consider is the fact that Kelly Hoppen decorated the spaces of the home with art objects and a unique set of collectable items. These accessories are enhanced by both the natural light and the choice of white lacquered wall panels. There’s an intimate style of glow to these areas that give them a unique touch only Hoppen could obtain.
When it comes to the bedrooms they are all composed by a neutral colour palette accompanied with a plush mix of velvets and Swedish linens. Alike the rest of the divisions of the home, there’s also the special touch of some very special curation of artworks. These elements manage to add a unique individuality to the spaces.
This project took Kelly Hoppen a year to complete and it took a lot of effort on the end of the designer to capture the owner’s personality and tastes, while at the same time providing a sanctuary for the whole family. Of course, it’s no surprise to say that the homeowner had a reaction of complete joy, upon glancing at the final result. In the designer‘s own words:
“This is a modern and timeless apartment with all the comforts a home should have, with that spark of intrigue and excitement that I am proud to have designed.”
