The Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain

Let’s go back to the magical year of 1984 when The Fondation Cartier pour l’Art Contemporain, known all around the world as the Fondation Cartier was founded.  This contemporary art. Museum in the capital of France, Paris, that presents exhibits by established artists and it offers to young artists a chance to debut. It is located in at Raspail street in a glass building designed by Pritzker Prize architect – Jean Nouvel, surrounded by a modern woodland garden landscaped by Lothar Baumgarten. In 60% it is funded by the jeweler Cartier and the main rule of this deal is that no artist who works with the foundation can ever work with the luxury brand. Important information for tourists :  Open every day except Mondays and an admission free is charged.

What about its collection? The museum presents contemporary and international artists and currently contains over 1000 works by 300 different artists. They give space to artists from Japan such as Yukio Nakagawa or China – Huang Yong Ping. Alain Dominique Perrin, who set up the foundation, said: “What we have done is not only show the artists like other museums have done, we have gone further and we have pushed them to go further, in their exhibitions and our commissions. They own the masterpieces such as Caterpillar by Wim Delvoye or La Volière by Jean-Pierre Raynaud. “This is a unique place to be as an artist. If there is another place in the art world like this, then I have never found it. They understood that, whether people like it or not, the world is in colour. Always has been, always will be.” Says David Lynch.
