Dolce & Gabbana x Smeg Honour Sicily with Domestic Appliances Project ⇒ The internationally acclaimed fashion house Dolce & Gabbana joined forces with renowned Italian manufacturer SMEG to create the astonishing Sicily is my love project, one that truly represents the excellence of Made in Italy design. In this collaboration, two powerhouses within the worlds of high-fashion and design meet and merge to produce the most stunning domestic appliances with each design highlighting an Italian narrative behind them.
This isn’t the first time that the two leading brands have collaborated together. Some time ago, they teamed up to create 100 unique hand-painted refrigerators. During Salone del Mobile of last year, this exceptional collection of domestic appliances was presented where the focus lied on much smaller products, such as toasters, citrus juicers, coffee machines, kettles, blenders, stand mixers and slow juicers.

In order to honour the Italian essence, each product was decorated with reflected interpretations of Sicilian folklore. Lemons, prickly pears, and bright red cherries are just a selection of Sicilian decorations that are framed in triangular motifs known as crocchi, that decorate these small appliances. Together with crocchi, the appliances are covered with delicate floral motifs and images of the enthralling Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes, and decorative acanthus leaves.
In their aesthetics, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana give great importance to these symbols and themes that are coherently connected to Sicily.
Food, the typical products of Southern Italy and their recipes of traditional dishes are the pulling force to which heart and soul will always return, and notwithstanding the two companies’ affiliation to different creative sectors, they are bound by strong values of Made in Italy brand that results in passion and profound creativity.
