Art of Carving is All About Shaping a Realm of Diverse PossibilitiesFriday 20 July 2018
Art of Carving is All About Shaping a Realm of Diverse Possibilities ⇒ Carving is one of the most popular techniques among the art, design and craftsmanship industries. It is the act of using tools to shape something where the intent is to scrape away portions of that material, that can either be an object, sculptures or even a furniture design, among many other possibilities. This technique is quite the versatile and dynamic character to it because it can be applied to any sort of material, whether if it’s solid or smooth and soft. Carving is all about sculpturing something using diverging methods in order to achieve the pretended result. This technique requires a lot of work but it’s important to develop it and keep it alive in our contemporary times, so today, CovetED will show you a bit of its importance in these industries.
There is a wide variety of carving, including bone, melted glass, clay, chip, fruit, gourd, ivory, stone, vegetable, wood, hobo and tree carving, all of which have their own set of characteristics and techniques.
Now, we are going to show you a video regarding a unique event that took place last month, the Luxury Design & Craftsmanship Summit, organised by Covet Group and Brhands Foundation that focus exclusively on a Carving master, Fernando Real, who explains his experience as well as the process behind this technique.
“The person has to have a lot of dedication for it, to really enjoy the art form but also have a lot of knowledge emanated from colleagues who already departed … We are following the footsteps of these teachers that were a part of the factory and we move forward, captivating, even more, the market.” – Fernando Real
