The brand Bvlgari has finally revealed its Diva Finissima Minute Repeater, a watch that combines the glamour of diamonds and pink gold with the horological complexity of a minute repeater. A piece that will be shown at this year’s Baselworld edition, this watchmaking wonder celebrates the first Bvlgari creations dating back to 1918 in the form of exquisitely beautiful platinum jewellery watches adorned with magnificent diamonds. Since then, Bvlgari has asserted itself as one of the key players in the realm of high-end ladies’ watches, notably with its Serpenti and Lvcea collections.

The Diva Finissima Minute Repeater raises a majestic anthem to artistry by chiming the time on demand while also celebrating a century of watchmaking and jewellery expertise, masterfully expressed through daring gem-setting and a dial embellished by gold-spangled Japanese Urushi lacquer. The Diva Finissima Minute Repeater is an example of a relatively rare kind of watch: a ladies’ watch with a very feminine design and very decorative purpose which not only cuts no corners in the movement but actually uses one of the most extraordinary complicated movements on the market today.

Finissima – an evolved version of the famous Finissimo Minute Repeater movement present by Bvlgari at Baselworld 2016 in the Octo collection – holds inside the world’s thinnest minute repeater movement in a ladies’ watch. The record-breaking calibre is developed and crafted by the master watchmakers of the Italian brand at the Manufacture in Le Sentier. Delightful and beautiful, the Diva Finissima repeater is just 3.12mm thick.

The watch’s minute repeater is activated using a slide on the case which is decorated with a diamond studded fan. The 37mm case takes this open fan as the inspiration for its lug shape, with a smaller fan dangling from the slide for the minute repeater. The case is made of pink gold, which has long had a reputation as the best material overall for minute repeater cases, with the addition of copper to gold adding warmth to the tone of the repeater, and improving the ability of the case to act as a soundboard for the chimes inside. There is also a back display, allowing you to admire the movement. The black dial is complemented by a black alligator strap for a polished look. Bulgari has created only 10 of these Diva Finissima Minute Repeaters and each one is priced at $187,000.
