See some highlights of this year’s Masterpiece London Art FairWednesday 3 July 2019
Right now the 10th edition of the Masterpiece London Art Fair is almost ending. This is considered as a cross-disciplinary art fair that prides itself in its eclecticism. Every year they present a variety of artworks coming from many creative galleries made with top quality Craftsmanship. CovetED will tell you a little about what’s been happening at the Royal Hospital in London’s Chelsea district.
This year the 10th edition of the London Art Fair is featuring more than 150 exhibitors, among them included 22 newcomers. During the event, the participants are allowed to view and buy a variety of works of art, as well as other fine pieces of design, furniture and jewellery.
There are many references included in the Masterpiece London Art Fair‘s 10th edition, among them are leading figures from establishments such as the British Museum, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and last but not least. Victoria & Albert Museum. These institutions are included in the lecture series of the event in which they mention themes regarding art, fashion, design, and technology.
Some newcomers in this year’s edition of the event have definitely managed to set a noticeable presence. There was Richard Saltoun, who presented a solo booth which was dedicated to Italian female abstractionist Bice Lazzari. Then there was also the Berlin-based Bastian, that came in with incredible works of Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol. Lastly, there was Everard Read, known for being Africa’s oldest commercial gallery.
There were many traditional art pieces present at the event, most notably the Roman Marble Venus, the painting La Forêt (1925) from Max Ernst, Vertigo (1973) by Luchita Hurtado, Pentagon with Virtues (1980) by Andy Warhol and Kissing Coppers (ca. 2005) by Bansky. Vintage jewellery was also one of the main elements exhibited at the event. Organizations such as Bentley & Skinner, Verdura, Boghossian and Grima Jewellery brought in a couple of amazing vintage luxury jewels worn throughout a variety of centuries by many of the most important figures of each time period.
Other of the main highlights of the event was also the presence of Perrier-Jouët. The champagne producer was present at the event with the purpose of running some champagne master classes. These initiatives have even been hosted by the ambassador and champagne expert Jonathan Simms.
