Everything You Need To Know About WantedDesign 2019⇒ WantedDesign is a series of international design events, with two main events taking place in Manhattan and Brooklyn during NYCxDESIGN, New York’s celebration of worldwide design. With an extensive network of partners in the media, cultural institutions, trade organizations, global design weeks and more, WantedDesign aims to provide a platform dedicated to promoting design and fostering the international creative community at large throughout the year. The 2019 event will present the work of graduate students from over 30 international schools. Follow CovetED for more details on the event that promotes design and fosters the international community.
WantedDesign started in 2011 in the city that never sleeps by Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat. The NYC event focuses on welcoming the design trade and design lovers to events, conversations and partnerships. The event that was originally located in the landmark Terminal Stores in West Chelsea’s Historic District, has become a creative destination for the international design community and offers to the participants and visitors a unique and dynamic experience. Every May, the event serves as a popular and inspiring meeting point for designers, manufacturers, buyers, distributors, craftspeople, students, design institutions, the press and all design lovers.
The events during NYCxDESIGN offer a 360-degree experience with innovative installations, memorable products, pop-up stores, interactive experiences, convivial lounges, thought-provoking student workshops, engaging discourse and more. WantedDesign is an active part of NYCxDESIGN and aims to showcase New York as a dynamic and unique design destination.

WANTED DESIGN BROOKLYN AT THE INDUSTRY CITY
The event will return to Brooklyn’s Industry city with more participants than ever. Graduate students from over 30 international schools are expected to present their work. See the exhibitors, schedule and program down below:
SHELTER FALLOUT – The exhibition Shelter Fallout revolves around the project by Swiss designer Iskander Guetta Abri+ (Shelter+), which he created in 2018 as his master’s thesis in Industrial Design at ECAL, the Lausanne University of Art and Design in Switzerland. Abri+ responds to the need for privacy and human dignity in the often challenging and cramped living conditions in shelters hosting migrants, asylum seekers, and homeless people
GAME CHANGER – Eyes on Talents combines its prescriptive vision on creative talents to present Game changer NYC. A poetic and sensitive exhibition, highlighting the creations signed by key women-designers, all selected between France and the United States.
Without opposing male and female talents, Game changer NYC will celebrate the universality of design, seen here by the prism of the feminine.
SMARIN BOUNCING STATION – The Bounce Station is a choreographed exhibition which invites visitors to explore and perform new ways of sitting. Smarin’s researches subscribe to Microsociology of Erving Goffman which is one of the main levels of analysis of sociology, concerning the nature of everyday social interactions and body responses between humans. Smarin offers a “micro-sociology” of ‘la fesse’ (buttock) a concept of “face” which is an important part of this American sociologist and proposes a revolution of the seating position.
DESIGN TRANSFORMS – Instituto Campana + Central Saint Martins, UAL + WantedDesign + Industry City – Uniting Brazil’s most revered design duo with London’s most famous art university with New York’s best design fair in a shared mission for civic engagement with Industry City and Sunset Park residents.
