Archidex 2019 starts today: here’s what you definitely can’t missWednesday 3 July 2019
Archidex 2019, often referred to as South East Asia’s top event in regards to everything related to architecture, interior design and building fraternity, is about to begin a new edition with a promise for some special surprises for its 20th-anniversary. If you don’t know anything about this amazing design event, then don’t worry: CovetED will be putting you on par to what you definitely can’t miss this year.
Archidex (International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition) has definitely managed to conquer the attention and respect of the Malaysian community throughout its previous editions. Last year’s edition welcomed over 33,000 visitors, 80% of which were Malaysian architects and delegates coming from 61 countries. Of that previously mentioned group, 54% were also from ASEAN, a fact that ended up making the largest architecture show in Malaysia a truly global gateway to Southeast Asia.
Right now there’s no doubt that Archidex is definitely a reference in this country, having earned awards such as the MyCEB/MACEOS – rAWr Award 2013, 2015 & 2017 for Best Trade Exhibition and also the 2015 AFECA Award for Outstanding Trade Exhibition Award 2015. As a media partner for this unique design showcase, CovetED is about to show you a brief preview of what to expect this year.
As is already part of this event’s tradition, it will be taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, this time with three additional newly built halls in preparation for some new initiatives. This year it’s expected that the initiative will occupy 10 halls covering 24,000sqm, as well as will be receiving an estimate of 600 local and international exhibitors who will all be taking up 1,400 exhibition booths throughout all of the four days of the event.
Within Archidex 2019 you will also be able to attend a series of varied networking events, conferences, forums, workshops and talks. We highlight the Innovation Hall, an area which will be featuring a series of exhibits all of which will introduce participants into a reflection of what can become of the architecture business in the near future, emphasizing the role technological advancements will have in this regard. There are four main exhibits you should definitely look out for: BUILDING FOR CITIZENS OF TOMORROW; SHOWCASE OF TOMORROW’S TECHNOLOGY; ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATIONS and ADVANCE MATERIALS.
We also have to mention the fact that ARCHIDEX is a part of the KLAF (Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival), which will be running until July 7th. Another highlight which is part of this whole initiative is the International Architecture & Design Conference (DATUM: KL), an annual international architectural design conference expected to attract more than 2,000 participants in its 2019 edition with a lineup of 15 speakers connected to this industry.
