If you’re more the kind of person that prefers to spend Christmas travelling, this is the right post for you. Meet the top 10 world’s christmas destinations we covet and have a nice trip!
Let’s start the trip with the City of Light and the City of Love: Paris, France. At no other time is that so clear than during Christmas, when strings of white lights in all shapes line the boulevards and shopping streets and when high-end stores put on elaborate Christmas displays that attracts crowds from all over the world. At night, you can ice skating on a temporary rink beneath glow of the Eiffel Tower.
Where to stay: Hôtel André Latin
An old-fashioned warmth envelops Vienna at Christmas, softening the hard edges of imperial architecture with twinkling decorations and three outdoor Christkindlmarkts. Vendors sell crafts and ornaments, while visitors fuel their shopping with finger food and a glass of spiced mulled wine, or glühwein. The Vienna Boys’ Choir concerts are lengendary.
Where to stay: Sans Souci Hotel
Instead of carols, go to Bali, Indonesia, and listen to the haunting sounds of the gamelan gong for a change while you admire the Christmas Eve sunset at the island temple of Tanah Lot.
Where to stay: The Stairs Villa Hotel
In Napapiiri, in Lapland, Finland, Christmas fantasies abound, such as the natural presence of reindeer, snowy backdrops, and a location straddling the Arctic Circle. The region boasts two major St. Nick-themed parks: The Santa Claus Village, a popular amusement park which draws families from all over Europe and Santa Park, which is geared more toward children, but features impressive ice sculptures and quaint shops.
Where to stay: Santa Claus Holiday Village
The snowy city island of Trømso, Norway, offers unique views of the northern lights (look for them between 6 p.m. and midnight) and a chance to say you’ve been to the North Pole—well, the Arctic Circle, anyway—for Christmas. Plus, there’s dogsledding, great food, and a mountaintop cable car. Here, “day” is just a couple hours of twilight blue.
