The Essence of Light of Sammode StudioMonday 5 February 2018
The Essence of Light of Sammode Studio ⇒ Sammode has been a 100% French manufacturer for nearly 90 years and its success has been founded on three essential values: fitness for purpose, reliability and longevity. Throughout its history, it has successfully balanced craftsmanship with industrial processes and its legacy of expertise with cutting-edge technologies to position itself as a designer/manufacturer with control over every stage of production from design through to fabrication, therefore removing any need for subcontractors. This structure allows Sammode to guarantee the strength, sealing system and durability of its products and do so with great flexibility. The aesthetic finish and functionality of Sammode-developed lighting solutions now set the benchmark for an entire industry.
It was in 1967 that Sammode perfected its iconic TFH hermetic fluorescent tube luminaire. This apparently simple design – a tube closed at both ends by a stainless steel cap – is, in reality, a technically sophisticated solution with its own instantly identifiable aesthetic. Fit for purpose and highly efficient, the product quickly gathered a cult following. With nearly 50 years’ experience in industrial lighting, Sammode is now making this expertise available to the domestic market, with the introduction of its special Sammode Studio range of timelessly stylish luminaires.
Developed out of the brand’s architectural ranges, the Sammode Studio range has been designed and configured entirely for domestic applications. Some products in the range use grids or other forms of metallic mesh to accentuate their unique aesthetic. All combine simplicity with elegance and efficiency to create tangible feelings of safety and comfort. Acclaimed by construction professionals, the performance and strength of Sammode luminaires are interpreted in ways that favour comfort and mood. All the luminaires are manufactured, assembled and packaged at the brand’s Châtillon-sur-Saône production plant in the Vosges region of France. Join CovetED in discovering some of its distinctive models.

With its concrete base and aluminium column, the Bodom floor lamp is designed to light terraces and gardens. Its light is softened and tinted by the metal baffles of the Elgar luminaire, which are available in a copper, gold or silver finish, as the Astrup model. This luminaire is dimmable and, thanks to its sealed unit, can stay outdoors all year round.
– Balke –
The Balke hook lamp boasts a generous handle designed for easy carrying and to act as a hook so that you can hang it wherever you wish. Whether on a wall hook, coat peg, a cable or the branch of a tree, owners can now have light wherever they need it. It is also supplied with a reel and waterproof cable, making it a truly multipurpose lamp for all seasons. Balke has 3 versions with the same finishes used in the abovementioned models – copper, gold and silver finish.
