Discover The Modern Home Built In A Rocky Slope by CDMTuesday 16 October 2018
Discover The Modern Home Built In A Rocky Slope by CDM ⇒ The Mexican architecture firm CDM has finished the brilliant design project of a modern home built in a rocky slope. The modern house with a swimming pool was designed to perfectly match the natural surroundings and it was embedded into a rocky slope covered in vegetation and overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The project, SJA III, is nestled into a rocky hillside in the town of San Juan de Alima, on the western coast of Mexico. Rather than intruding upon the landscape, the cabana and swimming pool are meant to feel integrated into the site, which is blanketed with vegetation, and slopes down toward a beach and the sea. The minimalist style is the key to this architecture project, with clean shapes and sharp accents.
An infinity swimming pool was projected to face the sea and provide a stunning view of the ocean.
The cabana consists of rectangular volume topped with a thick, overhanging roof, with ivy dripping over the edge. The flat roof is intended to do more than shelter the building. It actually works as a mutable space that transforms into a true viewpoint overlooking the immensity of the horizon during the daytime, and an observatory for the stars at night time.
Wooden cabinetry and luxury furniture fill the space. On chairs and sofas, ivory-coloured cushions are paired with accent pillows in grey and gold. The space is cosy yet restrained, with a nautical-themed chandelier adding a whimsical touch.
Inside, the cabana offers a comfy place to relax and take refuge from the sun. Caramel-toned wood wraps the ceiling and walls, adding visual warmth following patterns of a clean and contemporary style. The side of the room design abutting the hill is clad in stones, helping reinforce the connection to the natural context.
A pathway carved on the rocks leads down to the swimming pool emphasizing the architecture’s connection to the natural environment.
