Maison et Objet 2018: Selection by Philippe ModelThursday 7 December 2017
Maison et Objet 2018: Selection by Philippe Model – The journey to Maison et Objet 2018 continues with one more MOM Selection. As with Geraldine Tan, also Philippe Model was chosen by the design event board for his expertise in the art of living. Designer and fashion designer, Philippe Model envisions a harmonious world full of evocative colours that invite us on a tranquil imaginary voyage. And that is visible in the M&O selection he made of the highlights and pieces you can’t miss in the best design event of the year.
The universe of Philippe Model is made up of hats, shoes, bags, books, interiors, wallpapers, colours (with the brand Ressource), chairs, tables, and decorative accessories. All of which await your discovery in Paris, at this shop on the rue Condorcet, Philippemodelmaison, as well as at Parisian department store Le Bon Marché. For his Maison et Objet 2018 selection, he chose dark and extravagant pieces from brands like Boca do Lobo and DelightFULL, and colourful goods from brands like Essential Home and Kitsch Kitchen.
With the style of a precious jewel, the new Boca do Lobo Diamond Sideboard, coloured in chocolate brown, will make a splash in interior design. Like the amethyst Diamond from the same Portuguese brand, the new sideboard also features two highly sculptured doors leading to a gold leaf interior with shelving and one drawer. The exterior of this fanciful piece is now presented in silver leaf, finished with a luxurious shade of translucent chocolate brown with high gloss varnish. And instead of the whimsical lion’s head feet, the new diamond presents a base made from mahogany lined with a bronze mirror.
The Atomic Suspension Light, by DelightFULL, is a modern design interpretation of the atomic age, inspired by the composition of the atom. Building this unique lighting design using materials such as brass, steel and aluminium, DelightFULL’s skilled artisans arranged it in an abstract composition, just like the non-conventional molecular forms. Both a glossy black and a gold-plated finish were used for the body, while glossy black and gold powder paint were the chosen finish of the shades. This stylish suspended ceiling light is the right fit for a contemporary living room, or even for a more modern master bedroom.
The Essential Home Audrey Rug is a contemporary low pile rug that features a mesmerizing pattern of coloured triangles. The textile piece is produced using a cut and loop technique and incorporates a synthetic fibre called Tencel. The bright vivid colours mix with the abstract geometric pattern to produce an amazingly rich indoor rug.

The Dutch brand Kitsch Kitchen will bring their new Wire Lamps for Maison et Objet 2018. Lamp Chico, Lamp Valiente (Petrol version pictured here) and Lampshade Diamanta represent a series of table and pendant lamps with different shapes, sizes and colour combinations, inspired by the famous Acapulco chairs. Designed by Jette Scheib, the lamps use an iron frame attached to Mexican wax wire.
Privatiselectionem is bringing the MMXVI CS Series Tables to Maison et Objet 2018. Comprised of two contrasting levels reaching upward like urban architecture into the sky, the MMXVI C1 console table in polished brass and resin finished wood (pictured above) is a sleek and modern piece of understated beauty and a sleek complement to a contemporary décor theme. Reaching higher than its predecessor, the C2 console table is likewise comprised of two contrasting levels reaching upward, making the MMXVI C2 the understated beauty at the upper edge of the skyline. The MMXVI C3 base is composed of four parallel slats of varied design, all sharing a single overhanging tabletop. The console table in polished brass and resin finished wood is as creative as it is stunning.
Completing Philippe Model’s selection, we can find the Praying Mantis Side Table by Meyer Von Wielligh, the Book Shelf Bricks Wall by Pols Potten and the Étagère Surface by Bibelo. These are some of the design pieces you can’t miss out from 19 to 23 January 2003 at Paris Nord Villepinte.
