Chicago’s 1000M Tower is Ready to Stand TallFriday 20 October 2017
2018 sets the beginning of a new and breathtaking step in Chicago’s identity. Designed by the award-winning architect and Chicago resident Helmut Jahn, the 1000M Tower is a massive 832-foot-tall glass building that will continue to fill out and reshape the Chicago skyline, along with a handful of other tall buildings.

Located in the South Loop neighbourhood, the 1000M Tower condominium will stand 74 stories tall above Lake Michigan and Grant Park, while delivering 323 new residences. The latest look at the tower projects helps to illustrate the evolution of the building’s design and its programming. The newer curvy shape with undulating sides and building width still speaks to the new wave of structural expressionism that has swept over Chicago in recent years. Still expected to make a striking visual impact on the city’s skyline, the modified project was approved by the city in 2016.
Adding to the 323 available apartments, 1000M Tower is filled with amenities. Open 24/7, the building’s impressive state-of-the-art fitness centre will guide residents through special programmed fitness classes, personal training and advanced equipment. The 1000M Spa will provide the opportunity for effortless relaxation with several wellness possibilities, like the Meditation Room or the Plunge Pools.
The 11th floor welcomes you to a charming library with a curated collection of classic Chicago literature, and the 72nd floor presents the Sky Terrace, which offers breathtaking views of Grant Park, Lake Michigan and the city, complete with telescopes for celestial viewing. Also on level 72, Club 1000, which features a full-service bar, will allow residents to get inspired by the 19-foot glass walls and lush perennials in the Winter Garden.
The tower will be largely composed of glass with a greenish hue with metal horizontal spandrels flanking each floor. The tower’s crown will also act as a large amenity roof deck area that spans the eastern building wall.
Architect Helmut Jahn was joined by Kara Mann in the design team, the latter being responsible for the interiors design, which will feature hardwood floors, natural stones, floor-to-ceiling walls of glass and a kitchen packing state-of-the-art equipment. Although only set to be completed by 2021, interested buyers already have the opportunity to purchase the new residences. The 1000M Tower will have prices starting from $557,000 for a one-bedroom unit (926 square feet) to $8.5 million for an extravagant four-bedroom penthouse (5,491 square feet).
