From an adorable young ballet student to a 15 years old Elle Magazine cover model, she was one of the most desirable actresses of her time. Besides her beauty and grace, her advocacy for animals is one of the main reason the world loves her.
Her first acting role was ‘Le Trou Normand’ at the age of 18. It was at that precise moment that the world fell in love with her talent and angelic beauty. She wed screenwriter and filmmaker Roger Vadim in 1952 however fiver years later they divorced.
But the show must go on, so Brigitte never gave up on happiness. Her first American film ‘Act of Love’, established her “sex kitten” image. As a consequence, all her future French films were dubbed in English so as to satisfy the American desire to see her on their screen. From 1952 to 1956, Brigitte appeared in seventeen films. Her biggest success was ‘And God Created Woman’.
Some may say that Brigitte Bardot’s romantic life was as intense. No one was indifferent to her due to her feline eyes and unique smile. In 1973, the pressure of the industry got to her and Bardot had several nervous breakdowns. For this reason, she decided to quit acting. She retired in her house in Saint Tropez where she lives with her son, her husband Bernard d’Ormale, and their beloved animals.
Her fame and fortune did not turn Bardot into an insensitive person as she established the ‘Foundation for the Protection of Distressed Animals’ in the mid-70s and the ‘Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals’ in the mid-80s. She still has hundreds of animals in her house in Saint Tropez.
This iconic diva has inspired so many with her work and eminent style. CovetED’s team searched for the best designs that represent this ethereal figure. The following is a selection of interior design pieces that we found similar to Bardot’s style. Be inspired!
