Morphosis has designed mixed-use towers in Los Angeles comprising a polished white structure with a plant-covered glass tower. The architecture firm will also redesign the Viper Room, a recognizable music venue on the structure founded by the likes of Johnny Depp and Sal Jenco back in 1993. Morphosis founding partner Thom Mayne claimed that the site respects its history and at the same time, it’s a model for future urban developments that will occur in the commercial, social and residential life while the public engages with it. Mayne also said “In approaching this project, we wanted the design to reflect the spirit of what makes Sunset Boulevard the iconic destination that it is, while pushing towards a 21st-century Los Angeles that is greener, denser, more sustainable, and more pedestrian-oriented.”

Focusing on the building, the eastern part (that shines with plant-filled balconies), will accommodate apartments, while the prodigious western tower will incorporate the hotel. It will be topped with a curved landscaped terrace that gracefully unites with the main body of the white tower. A sky bridge at the top of the hotel will present its residents and guests with fresh access to a events space, swimming pool, outdoor dining, a bar and a restaurant.

The project embraces the energy that characterizes West Hollywood and Sunset Strip with a sense of light, landscape and design.
